Marketing & Communications Manager

Marketing & Communications Manager

Anti poverty programs in the United States provide critical, but insufficient, support to families with low incomes. Income-based programs provide families with only enough resources to meet day-to-day expenses. If we are to end poverty and narrow gender and racial wealth gaps in our communities, we must do more than provide money to live by. Instead, we must support families to grow the financial assets and capabilities needed to achieve the goals and dreams they live for.

As Marketing and Communications Manager at Compass Working Capital, you’ll share our unwavering belief in people’s ability to achieve their goals and dreams. By working in close partnership with our internal teams and external stakeholders, you’ll create and execute creative paths to effectively reach our most important audiences, including potential clients, partners, and supporters.

This is a unique role because you will both serve as an internal expert for our departments as well as a leader of our external communications and public relations efforts. Key questions you’ll help us answer include how we market our programs to ensure we reach our target enrollment numbers in targeted geographies, what communication strategies we should use with our current clients, new ways to communicate with donors, and innovative opportunities to promote our work in social media and with the press.

You’ll be a wonderful addition to our team if you have a passion for creative problem solving, detail-orientation, a service mindset, and are energized by Compass’ mission to support clients to achieve life-changing goals.

As Marketing and Communications Manager, you will work closely across Compass’ core teams -- including programs, national, financial services, development, HR, and policy -- to successfully market to and communicate with their target audiences. You will use data and relationships to assess Compass’ marketing and communication needs to provide strategic and tactical support across functions such as traditional and new media, email, social media, video, and storytelling.

You will have the opportunity to partner with the Compass team to elevate its brand, and to manage prospective engagements with external partners on marketing, communications, and public relations efforts. You will also be responsible for selecting and managing relationships with relevant vendors in line with Compass’ supplier guidelines and diversity, equity and inclusion priorities.

This role reports to the Chief Development and Communications Officer.
