Positive Tracks helps youth create change using the power of athletics. We call it “sweating for good”. To date, we've helped 81,586 Positive Trackers turn 407,585 miles of athletic activity into advocacy, activism and $11.5 Million for causes shaping our future. Our nationwide programs merge the power of sports, athletic activity and play with social change work because we believe that something as simple as a kickball tournament can ignite critical conversations, mobilize communities, and foster the basic framework of youth activism.

About the Role

As Director of Development at Positive Tracks, you will help build the strategic direction and lead overall management of fundraising operations across individual, corporate, foundation, and event-related funding sources.  In partnership with the Board and CEO, you will contribute to expanding the organization’s revenue (currently about $1.3M) in line with Positive Tracks’ strategic vision. This role will serve as a key representative of Positive Tracks, engaging a broad spectrum of funders, partners, and supporters as the organization continues to grow and diversify its revenue streams. 

The Director of Development will manage a grant writing consultant and database consultant while reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, and work closely with the Chief Executive Officer and Board of Directors, helping Positive Tracks deliver on its ambitious goal to engage 1 million youth in Sweating For Good by 2030. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Board Support and Donor Stewardship
    • In partnership with the Board Development Committee, build a pipeline of prospective funders for Positive Tracks by researching, identifying, and cultivating new corporate, foundation, and individual prospects
    • Personally manage a portfolio of current and prospective individual, foundation, and corporate donors 
    • Work in partnership with CEO as primary "out the door" fundraiser
    • Actively partner with the CEO and board leadership to coordinate board engagement and giving and related events
    • Actively support the Board Development Committee as staff lead
  • Development Strategy + Execution
    • Lead development and execution of a comprehensive annual fundraising strategy in alignment with Positive Tracks’ strategic plan, values, and organizational vision and goals
    • In partnership with CEO, serve as a lead staff member in the organization and execution of Positive Tracks fundraising events, including our participation in peer-to-peer athletic fundraising events
    • Build and oversee stewardship plan for all existing supporters, donors, volunteers and partners 
    • As a Positive Tracks spokesperson, display deep youth civic engagement competency through words and actions both internally and externally, including a full embrace of social media
  • Management and Collaboration
    • As the Development team expands, oversee the hiring, managing, mentoring, and evaluation of highly talented staff, fostering an environment of commitment, passion, and professionalism, all connected to our Values
    • Work in partnership with our Communications Director to support external communications efforts focused on fundraising activities, stewardship and reporting· 
    • Build and ensure the efficient use of fundraising systems and processes, and oversee accurate and timely reporting
    • Actively manage database and grant writing consultants

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of professional experience in related/relevant fields; direct experience with fundraising and grant writing required
  • Excellent writing skills with an ability to reflect the Positive Tracks brand in written communications/emails/storytelling
  • Strong administrative and organizational skills, with an emphasis on time management and the ability to plan, organize and implement numerous projects simultaneously
  • Self-motivated and demonstrates initiative, patience, and resourcefulness in adapting to change and responding to opportunity in an entrepreneurial environment
  • Strong event planning and staff management experience
  • Deep appreciation for and commitment to Positive Tracks’ mission of elevating youth voice and youth development
  • Experienced handler of confidential or sensitive information. 
  • Previous CRM experience desired: Salesforce, Little Green Light, Raiser’s Edge preferred. 
  • Proficient in Social Media (FB, Twitter, LinkedIn), Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, Calendar), Microsoft Office (Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Word), Adobe Acrobat, various document processing and database applications and querying. 

We are currently all working virtually, but once we are able to host events, staff may be asked to occasionally stand for extended periods of time, occasionally lift 20 lbs and assist in physical work needed for various events. 

Compensation & Benefits

The salary range for this position is $85,000-$100,000 with a comprehensive benefits package that includes but is not limited to: 

  • Paid Time Off that starts at 4 weeks/year, plus holidays and time off to vote

This position is full-time and remote with the expectation of regular trips (approx 1x/month) to our office in Hanover, New Hampshire once we can safely return to the workplace following COVID-19. Greater Boston area and New England applicants preferred.

Timeline and Hiring Process

We will review and respond to all applications received. While subject to change, candidates elected to advance throughout the process can expect an initial interview with our hiring partner, Positively Partners.  Candidates elected to advance will be invited to speak via Zoom with Positive Tracks’ Chief Operating Officer and Learning and Culture Director. For finalists, there will be a virtual interview day with other staff and leadership team, followed by a holistic reference check process. Expected start date is June 2021.
