About the Position

MENTOR seeks a full-time Affiliate Network Associate to join the Affiliate team at our national office. MENTOR operates in a federated model with Affiliates positioned as locally responsive distribution networks for delivering programs and interventions at scale. Affiliates serve as the backbone for the local mentoring movement and have autonomy to tailor their programming and priorities. 

We are looking for a skilled project manager who can operate within multiple deadlines and ever-changing circumstances. The Associate will support MENTOR’s Affiliate Network by fostering an online community, curating, communicating and integrating technology solutions for organizations across the country. The role will work to coalesce the MENTOR Affiliate network toward stronger supports for the mentoring movement. 

This new position will join the Affiliate department making a team of four, and will be reporting to the Director of the Affiliate Network. 


Data Management and Evaluation 

  • Capture, analyze, and create reports with data regarding the priorities, needs, and resources of the MENTOR Affiliate Network 
  • Create and coordinate tracking tools, dashboards, and action plans for providing resources to Affiliates based on organizational health and sustainability data 
  • Establish and manage systems for implementing, tracking, and responding to evaluation data about our Affiliates
  • Coordinate the implementation of organizational tools for monitoring departmental engagement and impact, including a Client Relationship Management system (CRM) and project management tool

Communications Strategy and Implementation

  • Manage project roll out and messaging from MENTOR National departments to Affiliates through channels such as email, online community, and webinars ensuring clarity and cohesion
  • Design, curate, and disseminate toolkits and resources that support Affiliate organizational development

Online Community Management

  • Lead improvement and expansion of the MENTOR Hub, MENTOR’s online community, in partnership with the external website developer
  • Train, support, and troubleshoot issues for MENTOR Hub users, including MENTOR National and Affiliate staff, partner users, and sub-community managers
  • Curate content and steward engagement in the community by moderating and encouraging discussion, designing and implementing user engagement campaigns, developing blog content, updating Hub systems, and monitoring activity

  • 1-3 years of professional work experience in Human Services, Business or nonprofit operations, data management, communications, or other related fields
  • Excellent verbal, analytical, written, and interpersonal communication skills, emphasizing the ability to drive culture and engagement.
  • Strong analytical and planning skills
  • High attention to detail and demonstrated organizational and project management skills
  • Ability to work in cross-functional teams; oriented towards the needs of internal and external stakeholders
  • Comfort with learning and using technology tools such as CRM, project management tools, spreadsheet management, and basic website maintenance
  • Experience with design and graphics (PowerPoint, Infographics, etc.)
  • Nonprofit or other community building experience a plus

Making the Decision to Apply

This position is currently remote, though we are expecting all employees to return to our Boston office as soon as we can safely return to the workplace following the COVID-19 pandemic. 

We hope to have phone interviews in early April with select candidates followed by Zoom interviews with the Director of Affiliate Network. A few finalists will have an interview day with other staff and leadership at MENTOR followed by a holistic reference check process. Expected start date is June 2021. 

Compensation and Benefits

Salary will be commensurate with experience and the range begins at $45,000. Full benefits include health care, 403B, vacation, and life and short and long term disability insurance.
