About the Position
The Director of Workplace Mentoring will support the advancement of MENTOR’s mission by inspiring corporate entities to grow and deepen their adoption and integration of quality youth mentoring. The primary goal of this position is to positively influence Workplace Mentoring systems in an effort to impact workplace culture in consultation with employers and to support youth in building the social capital needed to navigate and succeed in the world of work. The Director will lead the process of shaping and implementing new and existing initiatives as well as establish and maintain systems for leveraging work across workforce development and corporate initiatives and projects.
Program Planning and Implementation
Collaborate with the Senior Director of Systems Innovation to propose new areas of business growth and lead the pitches to potential clients
Build and maintain partnerships with businesses and workforce development agencies, including coordinating all internal and external resources to ensure partnerships are effectively executed and objectives are achieved
Support hiring and the management of the workforce team, including managing timelines and workplans for staff within defined projects
Strategize around opportunities for employees to become more engaged through mentoring
Utilize data from participants to inform the improvement of products
Draft and review Consultant Contracts and Scopes prior to execution of the agreement
Manage budgets and revenue projections to ensure accurate revenue forecasting
Coaching, Training and Technical Assistance
Coach corporate partners and career readiness agencies to develop quality mentoring programs and activities for employees or community partners
Train MENTOR Affiliates to build relationships and their consultative practice and support them in developing statewide convenings
Deliver trainings on current MENTOR’s Corporate Training Series and work with training consultants to support work on the ground when needed
Collaborate with MENTOR Affiliates in program concept and delivery
Manage the needs of clients who are doing internal workplace mentoring programs
Manage the consultants’ timeline for the deliverables for National Clients

8+ years of progressive experiences in partnership management, workforce development, corporate engagement or corporate social responsibility
Expertise in corporate or workplace mentoring strategies around mentoring/youth development
Comfort and experience in delivering training and technical assistance to corporate partners and their employees
Exceptional interpersonal skills, with the ability to develop productive working relationships across a wide variety of individuals and groups, both internally and externally
Experience managing direct reports and teams effectively, providing mentorship, direct feedback, thought partnership, coaching and performance management to support their success and employee development, particularly during times of growth and change
Strong strategic thinking skills with an ability to use data to make decisions and translate strategy to action
Strong written, communication and organizational skills, including a track record of balancing and prioritizing multiple partner priorities simultaneously
Strong presentation, negotiation and liaison skills, demonstrated tact and diplomacy in difficult or sensitive situations
Experience in managing corporate partnership budgets of at least $250,000
Ability to travel up to 20% time

We hope to have phone interviews in June with select candidates. Candidates who advance will have a virtual interview with Charline Alexandre-Joseph, Senior Director of Systems Innovation. Finalists will be selected for a virtual interview day with MENTOR staff. Candidates advanced to offer can expect a holistic reference check process. Expected start time is August 2022.
This position is full-time with up to 20% national travel. For candidates who are based where MENTOR National has offices (Boston and Washington D.C), MENTOR is expecting all employees to work in the office 2 days a week or 8 days a month beginning April 2022. Preference will be given to candidates living in Metro Boston.
Compensation and Benefits
The salary for this role begins at $80,000 and is commensurate with experience. Full benefits include health, dental, 403B, pre-tax transit, generous vacation, and life and short- and long-term disability insurance. The summary of the benefits could be found HERE.
