Job Description

College Bound Dorchester is looking for highly motivated, resourceful and talented individuals to join our growing team. College Bound is a Boston-based nonprofit leader in gang-intervention, equipping gang-involved young people (Core Influencers) with the attitude, skills and experience to graduate from college and become positive leaders in their community._College Bound is a $5M organization poised to be a national model to use education to redirect the entrepreneurial, networking and leadership skills of gang-members from violence (and recidivism) to drive positive change that shifts social norms in our neighborhoods – empowering Core Influencers to become the solution to the chronic cycles of violence and poverty they have helped drive._

THE OPPORTUNITY

College Bound has recently undergone a strategic realignment and is singularly focused on our College Connections program led by College Readiness Advisers who work 1:1 and in a classroom setting with gang-involved youth. We are committed to investing in the training and support of our program staff to ensure they are positioned for success. This role is a new position designed to build the capacity and expertise of our College Readiness Adviser Team and serve as a content expert in the design and development of our program.

As our new Clinical Manager, you will provide a clinical presence and expertise, coordination of services, consultation, coaching and training for staff. You will work closely with staff to build their capacity to support students with trauma-informed practices. You will strive to understand the organizational culture so that you can work in partnership with leadership and program support teams to build trauma-informed practices that best support social emotional learning of the organization. You will be most successful in the role if you are highly motivated by the mission of College Bound and are committed to working with proven-risk youth to help them realize their full potential.

For the right candidate we are able to accommodate a part-time, flexible or alternative schedule and the option to work as a consulting clinician.    

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Staff Leadership and Development

  • Serve as the clinical/mental health presence to the team and offer staff support around self-care and vicarious trauma;
  • Provide ongoing coaching and support for staff to ensure trauma-informed practices that support social-emotional learning and sustainability serving as model and resource for College Readiness Advisors (CRAs) and staff;
  • Provide crisis support and response including supporting staff and students with intervention and connection to any necessary services;
  • Conduct monthly individual meetings with staff;
  • Track, document and analyze key data using data management tools aligned with program needs;
  • Support the training of CRAs through identification of needs and providing formal and informal embedded and ongoing training in collaboration with program support team;
  • Assist with the CRA institute, an orientation, onboarding and development program for new staff, in collaboration with the program support team;

Program Development and Operations

  • Serve as functional expert and thought partner to the leadership and program support team regarding current best practices and initiatives related to providing trauma-informed care, apply clinical lens to strategy and decision making;
  • In collaboration with Chief Program Officer, develop and refine model for trauma-informed care for both students and staff;
  • Coordinate and facilitate case management meetings focused on student supports in collaboration with CRA coach;
  • Work in conjunction with Chief Program Officer and program support team to create tools, resources and structures to define and refine work with our target students (Core Influencers).
  • In collaboration with Director of Strategic Partnerships,create systems of care and coordination for participants in need of mental health services;
  • Provide referrals to students in need of therapeutic supports; support during crisis and emergencies and collaborate w/CRAs to identify resources and referrals.

Program Leadership

  • Serve as a College Bound ambassador, representing the organization and movement at various community events, trainings and meetings;
  • Participate in site visits, on and off site, to educate stakeholders (funders, elected officials, community partners etc) on the Uncornered movement;
  • Serve as member of the Program Support Team actively supporting the growth and development of the organization aligned with the organization’s mission, vision and core values
  • Participate in all case management meetings, staff meetings and other required program/organization meetings/events;
  • Participate in relevant required trainings and seek out training opportunities that support professional development outlined in the Individualized Professional Development Plan;
  • Adhere to all protocols and norms for communication and professional conduct, e.g. Email and Phone Communication Protocol, Communication Norms;
  • Fulfill all outlined and related functions in a professional, timely, and thorough manner;

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be a licensed LMHC, LICSW, Ph.D or Psy.D in psychology with a current license to practice independently as a mental health professional in the state of Massachusetts.
  • 4+ years experience in individual and group trauma-informed clinical work with youth and families.
  • Experience working in urban settingsor in a variety of settings: homes, schools, neighborhoods, other agencies, etc., and ability to travel to these sites required.
  • Experience working with youth in urban communities, adults and families impacted by community violence, and involved with systems (DYS, DCF, judicial system, DTA).
  • Reliable, organized, detail-oriented, and a systems-thinker.
  • Experience training adults and providing direct feedback regarding approach and practice.
  • Understand that loss, particularly loss to community violence is a common occurrence within neighborhoods CBD serves and in CBD community (directly affecting students and staff).
