The Opportunity

We seek a Boston-based, experienced HR professional to work in partnership with our nonprofit and social impact clients. Qualified applicants will demonstrate strong business acumen and possess an entrepreneurial spirit with a genuine desire to proactively and consistently deliver results.   

Your 5+ years working in HR/Talent, experience across core HR functions including benefits, payroll, policies/compliance, hiring, guiding managers and employee relations will prepare you for this role as advocate, coach, mentor, and local compliance officer.  Your certification from the HRCI or SHRM demonstrates that you know the law and best practices, but it is your creativity, ability to build high-quality relationships, mission-fit, and commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion that will differentiate you as a key asset to our organization and the clients we serve.

We offer flexible work arrangements with part-time and full-time schedules. Consultants will work directly with our clients in developing and executing customized HR services. As an HR Business Partner, you will work as a member of our team while also working onsite several days per week. In many ways, we work like a shared HR service offering similar supports and practices across multiple clients. This is an opportunity to be part of an experienced HR team while also having the opportunity to lead HR services at one or two client sites.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Client-facing HR Generalist:  Work onsite with our clients as an HR generalist to deliver a collection of the following services. Please note that the exact nature of the services changes based on the specific needs of each client.
    • Advise management on the administration of human resources policies and procedures
    • Analyze current HR programs and recommend solutions that leverage the best practices and shared services developed by Positively Partners
    • Serve as a single point of contact for the client with their HRIS vendor to support day-to-day system administration, help desk requests and the rollout of upgrades implemented by Positively Partners Chief Information Officer
    • Develop, revise, and implement HR policies and procedures to ensure that they are compliant with the law and best reflect the needs of the organization.
    • Conduct audits of HR activities to ensure compliance, prepare and maintain documentation and reports for client education and compliance
    • Serve as the onsite project manager ensuring that key milestones are achieved and that documentation of new workflows are complemented and shared with stakeholders
    • Facilitate internal communications including announcements of new hires, updates on process change, support for open enrollment and other messaging key to the success of our service offerings
    • Coordinate with onsite staff to ensure the accuracy of payroll and associated documentation and participate in communication with brokers about changes to employee benefit offerings
  • Advance Project-based Work Assigned by Positively Partners: Work with other Positively Partners consultants and team members to advance ad hoc projects or services that the firm is contracted to provide to clients; including:
    • Recruitment/Talent Acquisition:
      • Support candidate attraction, selection and onboarding activities for searches, including the creation of job descriptions, outreach to prospective candidates, interviewing, and reference checks.
    • Performance Management:
      • Support the roll-out and adoption of Positively Partners’ approach to performance management (Meaningful Accountability). This includes helping with change management, communication, and training on the practice, approach, and use of custom technology developed by our team.
    • Training & Leadership Development:
      • Support the design and facilitation of Positively Partners’ courses for clients including helping to tailor specific courses based on client needs.
      • Based on your skills and interest there may be opportunities to deliver training in the future.

Qualifications + Experience:

  • 5+ years of experience in the HR or Talent field
  • PHR, SPHR,  SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP certification that demonstrates a comprehensive  understanding of employment and labor regulations and best practices
  • Strength in core areas of HR - benefits, processes, performance management, hiring, onboarding, and policy creation and implementation
  • Demonstrated ability to develop high-quality relationships, understand the needs of managers and identify the effective solutions
  • Impeccable ethics and judgment in maintaining highly sensitive and confidential information
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills/ emotional intelligence, with the ability to manage relationships with a diverse set of colleagues
  • Strong strategic thinking and ability to leverage data and observation to inform decision making
  • Proficiency in use of systems, tools, and processes including comfort with Microsoft Office, Google Apps, and HRIS systems
  • Proactive and solutions-oriented with experience working in ambiguity
