Data Systems Manager

Originally launching in 2001 in Los Angeles, and then expanding to Boston in 2014, SCS Noonan Scholars is in a new phase of national expansion, working to support the top low-income students of color across the country with a refined model of service that has come to define the organization’s success in L.A. and Boston.

As our Data Systems Manager, you will serve as an integral member of our operations and data systems team, focused on organizational data system usage and partnering to improve any issues or system barriers that exist. This role will serve as a key liaison and cross-team collaborator, making connections between the operations team and the other functions that rely on the organization’s data systems - Finance, Development and Program in particular.

The Data Systems Manager will be heavily involved in the management of our Salesforce platform, and an ideal candidate will have prior experience using Salesforce in cross-functional capacities and have the ability to continue to develop strong administrator skills with the system. You will be successful in the position if you are a systems- thinker, are hungry for process development and improvement and are grounded in the challenges and needs of the data system users internally. This is a full-time position reporting to the Director of Data Systems & Evaluation in our downtown Boston office.

Business & Operations Process Support

  • Partner with the team to identify and implement business process and system improvements
  • Identify gaps in operational efficiency across the organization
  • Provide innovative solutions to business issues through technology (Salesforce, or otherwise)
  • Manage the administration of internal operational tools (like Dropbox, Zoom Communications), providing training and support to staff on their use
  • Adapt divisional processes and procedures to best practice
  • Work with divisions to develop (technically speaking) and roll-out solutions to business processes
  • Provide guidance to ensure that solutions are aligned with organizational strategy and vision
  • Provide basic hardware support for staff within the Boston office

Development Operations/Donor Systems Database

  • Liaise with development staff members to ensure gifts are appropriately documented and acknowledged
  • Partner with the development team to provide support and systems for planning, analysis, and projections of fundraising activity including developing dashboards and regular reporting on progress towards goals
  • Support development staff in pulling reports and lists from Salesforce for key solicitations, events, and targeted campaigns
  • Maintain the organization’s donor constituent database, continually updating records as needed to ensure accurate and up to date information

Program Data Operations/Student Application Database

  • Support the use of data systems, including FormAssembly and Salesforce, to collect and manage student information
  • Support administration of the organization’s student data submission including troubleshooting end-user support and ensuring a seamless experience
  • Identify ways to streamline the process for review of student applications using technology offered by Salesforce based on needs/challenges of the program team
  • Help to support the design and launch of a new portal for students

  • 3+ years of professional experience in nonprofit data administration
  • Experience working with the Salesforce.com platform or equivalent CRM platform
  • Ability to quickly grasp conceptual plans and implement them in a timely manner with close attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills, and the ability to synthesize complex information
  • Exceptional interpersonal and customer service skills, with the ability to develop productive working relationships across a wide variety of individuals and groups by phone and in person
  • Strong strategic thinking skills with an ability to use data to make decisions and translate strategy to action
  • Highly organized and able to track and manage multiple projects simultaneously, including the ability to prioritize work projects and meet deadlines
  • Commitment to SCS Noonan Scholar’s mission and a deep interest in working with low-income underrepresented students
  • Ability to thrive and learn in our fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment while bringing an enthusiastic, collaborative approach to your work


SCS Noonan Scholars offers a robust compensation and benefits package including high-quality health and dental insurance, three weeks of paid vacation, professional development funding, and access to a retirement plan. This is a full-time exempt position with a salary range of $50,000-$52,000.


The mission of SCS Noonan Scholars is to help high-achieving, low-income, underrepresented students to get into and graduate from top colleges equipped to reach their full career potential. Through a six-year-long program, SCS Noonan Scholars provides students with college counseling and intensive academic preparation before college and a comprehensive set of academic, personal, social-emotional, financial, and career supports throughout college. This continuum of support directly addresses the unique barriers they face in entering and succeeding at selective colleges and in competitive careers.
