Development & Database Coordinator

College Bound Dorchester (CBD) is looking for highly motivated, resourceful and talented individuals to join our growing team. College Bound is a Boston-based nonprofit leader in gang-intervention, equipping gang-involved young people (Core Influencers) with the attitude, skills and experience to graduate from college and become positive leaders in their community. CBD is a $5.4M organization poised to be a national model to use education to redirect the entrepreneurial, networking and leadership skills of gang-members from violence (and recidivism) to drive positive change that shifts social norms in our neighborhoods – empowering Core Influencers to become the solution to the chronic cycles of violence and poverty they have helped drive.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Director of Development, the Development & Database Coordinator is a critical role within CBD’s Development team – assisting in the execution of fundraising efforts, supporting the administration of CBD’s database, and assisting in the creation of communications and content for corporate and foundation giving. This role implements strategies to engage current and prospective donors, contributes to grant and fundraising opportunities, and implements best practices to optimize CBD’s internal database. A team player, the Development & Database Coordinator is able to support or jump into new projects quickly, think creatively, and manage day-to-day tasks to meet near- and long-term goals.

 

Responsibilities

General 

  • Support development and implementation of development strategy
  • Manage day-to-day administrative tasks for development and communications team
  • Contribute to and support proposal development, submission, and follow-up as needed
  • Help manage database administration and updates of database records

 

Database Management 

In partnership with the Director of Development, manage Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge data, including:

  • Assist in the development of tailored mailing lists, reports, and dashboards
  • Track event attendance/participation, gifts, and constituent queries
  • Maintain records in Raiser’s Edge for all fundraising, grants, and event sponsorship, including entry of data related to donations, recurring gifts, credit cards, payroll deductions, wire transfers/EFTs, gifts-in-kind, etc.
  • Recommend measures to improve quality and accuracy of data and stay abreast of Raiser’s Edge updates
  • Maintain the integrity of the Raiser’s Edge database and serve as resource to all staff to ensure quality control and adherence to procedures
  • Maintain all database records and reinforce rules for proper data entry
  • Collaborate with teams to continuously improve existing workflows and create new ones as needed

Development 

  • Collaborate with CBD staff and/or consultants to identify, prospect, and propose potential grant opportunities that align with organizational strategy
  • Collaborate with CBD staff to support grant proposal development, tracking and management
  • Deploy strategy and implementation of quarterly fundraising campaigns, including the Annual Appeal.
  • Assist in event sponsorship outreach, sponsor communications, and fulfillment of sponsorship agreements
  • Process, track, and deploy all gift acknowledgements
  • Help out around the office as needed, including with screening donor mail and meeting guests

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or 4+ years of equivalent experience
  • Demonstrated skill with data management systems and analysis; experience with Raiser’s Edge or other CRM systems required
  • Demonstrated skill and experience with development and fundraising, including grant prospecting, writing, donor solicitation and management.
  • Knowledge of Google Apps and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to work independently in a self-directed manner and in collaboration with others
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent follow through and ability to meet deadlines in a fast paced environment
  • Action-oriented and adaptable problem-solver with the ability to exercise professional judgment to find solutions to problems as they arise
  • Experience and desire to work in a mission driven organization undergoing organization change and growth
