Student Coordinator - Product Design


For the past seven years, The Possible Project (TPP) has built, implemented, assessed and refined a model for after-school programming that provides high school students in Cambridge and Boston with an opportunity to: a) create and take products to market, b) partner with local businesses for real-work design and business operations projects, c) have access to industry and professional mentors who can help hone their skills and grow their access to networks of supportive adults, and d) receive pathways counseling for post-secondary opportunities.

Through our program, students have the opportunity to dream up, design and create real products for sale in our cutting edge Makerspace and to work with real external clients in our two in-house run Social Enterprises: We Sell Possible and Made Possible.  Our impact stretches beyond the skills learned by the students who participate; we use entrepreneurship as a mechanism for bolstering creativity, fostering perseverance, harnessing optimism and revealing the possible.


The Possible Project’s social enterprises have two primary objectives:

  1. Educating and empowering students through authentic work experience
  2. Generating revenue to support programming.

In this role, you will work within Made Possible - a TPP social enterprise that empowers young people to develop skills for lifelong success by working in a growing design and manufacturing business. Our Made Possible students learn how to conceptualize, design, and manufacture products to be sold to external clients and partners.

We are seeking a Student Coordinator to join our growing, entrepreneurial TPP Enterprises (TPPE) team. You will play a pivotal role in supporting the business operations of Made Possible, helping the team develop, integrate, coordinate, and evaluate roles for students in Made Possible’s design and manufacturing business.


  • Supervise a team of student workers and oversee all student staffing needs for Made Possible;
  • Develop, integrate, and coordinate roles for students in Made Possible’s design and manufacturing business;
  • Collaborate with design staff to develop and implement student roles and integration plans in product development, product manufacturing, and product fulfillment;
  • Collaborate with marketing and sales staff to develop and implement student roles in marketing and sales functions of Made Possible;
  • Collaborate with TPP’s Entrepreneurship team to ensure scaffolded approach for on-boarding students transitioning from Entrepreneurship programming into Made Possible business;
  • Collaborate with management team to ensure that student staffing roles and student work experiences align with Made Possible’s job-readiness criteria;
  • Create and implement an accessible employee handbook for all student staff that includes SOP’s and best practices for payroll, work schedules, performance reviews, and other administrative areas;
  • Develop and implement recruitment and retention strategies and Standard Operating Procedures for student staff;
  • Develop, implement, and track clear Key Performance Indicators for student performance as it relates to business tasks and activities, and various job-readiness skills;
  • Develop and implement strategies that reinforce both student staff engagement and skill-building within Made Possible;
  • Develop and implement a data-tracking system for all student staff data;
  • Serve as the primary contact and staff resource for all student staff working in Made Possible.


While there is no perfect resume, we will likely be most interested in your application if you fulfill most or all of the following

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or relevant technical field (e.g. Industrial Design) preferred;
  • 2+ years of professional experience within a design-based business, particularly in team or staff management;
  • Knowledge of best practices and trends in HR and staffing;
  • Demonstrated experience in coaching, teaching, or working with youth, particularly those who are low-income, recent immigrants, and/or face barriers to success;
  • Demonstrated CADD proficiency, including 3D modeling softwares, Adobe Creative Suite, and various digital fabrication equipment;
  • Familiarity with manufacturing methods, and industrial materials and processes;
  • Experience with digital fabrication equipment including 3D printers, laser cutters, CNC routers, etc.;
  • Exceptional problem-solving, organizational skills, and interpersonal skills;
  • Action-oriented, entrepreneurial, adaptable, market-savvy, and innovative approach to staffing and business;
  • Interest in a fast-paced, changing environment of a growing organization, and comfortable navigating ambiguity;
  • Team- and detail-oriented, and you understand that in a business environment, even the slightest error can lead to customer service or staffing challenges;
  • You communicate clearly and personably, and are comfortable communicating regularly with people at all levels of the organization.
