Workforce Development & Education Coordinator

The Workforce Development & Education Coordinator will be responsible for the overall management and leadership including fiscal and program management operations of Bridge Over Troubled Waters Career Services. The Coordinator will ensure the efficient and effective operation of programs, achieve excellence in delivery of services and business operations, provide leadership, management and supervision of staff, develop external collaborations, partnerships and relationships and will lead strategic expansion of services to serve target populations of Bridge. The Coordinator will ensure that all programs comply with policies, best practices, regulations and procedures required by grants and contracts. The Coordinator works closely with clients, staff and partners to give youth the best opportunities for growth in their careers and education. This position involves working with youth in groups as well as individually and developing content for workshops. 

Client Services 

  • Teach college-readiness and career-readiness skills to clients, individually and in groups
  • Create and adapt content for college and career-readiness workshops and classes
  • Assist clients with the college-application process
  • Provide assistance with resumes, cover letters and job applications to clients in a drop-in setting 
  • Assist clients in developing short-term and long-term educational and career goals 
  • Develop and administer aptitude and interest assessments  
  • Design and implement innovative service delivery systems to grow programs and improve the efficiency and effectiveness of career development programs and services to Bridge’s population
  • Develop policies and procedures which govern operation of the Career Development department

Community Relations 

  • Develop relationships with employment agencies, potential employers, training programs and educational institutions to establish job, career, and training opportunities for Bridge youth


  • Co-manage AEI (workforce development) grant with the Education Coordinator; Establish systems and procedures to ensure compliance with all contract and grants procedures and policies
  • Comprehend and analyze labor market trends in order to provide youth with realistic job counseling 
  • Participate in regular staff meetings 
  • Collect and analyze statistical data for program assessment 
  • Participate in the collaborative process of grant proposal preparation 
  • Monitor and manage program performance to assure quality standard and compliance with legal and grant requirements
  • Establish systems and procedures to ensure compliance with all contract and grants procedures and policies
  • Prepare and write all annual contract and grant reports
  • Develop working relations with contract and grant program managers and maintain the primary relationships with all funding sources


  • Monitor program outcomes and communicate updates in a timeline manner to the reporting Director
  • Input all data into Bridge data systems (e.g., ETO) in a timely manner
  • Collect data for all grants in a timely, organized, and systemized way
  • Analyze and report all program statistics
  • Develop, supervise and safeguard the collection of all records


  • As Bridge grows, support the hiring of new staff and supervise reporting staff, monitor performance, hold employees accountable through a rigorous performance management plan


  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • At least three years’ experience in college, career and/or job counseling with progressive responsibilities
  • Excellent communication skills 
  • Empathy and flexibility in working with youth
