Maintenance Technician

THE OPPORTUNITY:

The Maintenance Technician will be responsible for executing maintenance requests by diagnosing problems and making repairs and ensuring that service requests and repairs are made in a timely manner. This includes; carpentry, electrical, heating, ventilation, plumbing, etc. Perform other tasks as assigned by the  Director of Finance and Administration. The ideal candidate is responsive and service-oriented.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for the completion of all maintenance service requests as assigned.
  • Monitors and replaces light bulbs in all assigned facilities, as needed
  • Makes minor plumbing repairs, as necessary
  • Coordinates and assists with departmental and employee moves
  • Performs basic electrical work and determines when an electrician is required
  • Hangs pictures and shelving, as needed
  • Dismantles and installs furniture
  • Transports goods or equipment as assigned
  • Performs immediate cleaning duties necessary to maintain clean facility.
  • Coordinate special projects as directed by the Director of Finance and Administration.
  • Assist in monitoring all work being performed by outside contractors.
  • Responsible for 24-hour emergency maintenance service as scheduled.
  • Carry cell phone as required for on-call maintenance.
  • Monitor and maintain all building systems as assigned.
  • Complete grounds work as directed by Director of Finance and Administration which may include picking up trash, sweeping curb and dumpster areas and maintaining landscaping beds and other areas.
  • Responsible for alerting the Director of Finance and Administration of any unusual occurrence and/or damage that have taken place or that may occur.
  • Maintain a professional courteous manner with all residents, vendors, contractors, and fellow employees.
  • Assure safety standards are used which comply with all company, local, City, State and Federal guidelines.
  • Ensure compliance of all work related activities in a fair, ethical, and consistent manner.
  • Follow established company policies and those outlined in the Employee Handbook.
  • Special projects and other responsibilities as may be determined.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 2-3 years experience in maintenance or related role.
  • Basic building maintenance skills including: appliance repair, plumbing, basic electrical, general carpentry, roof & gutters, wallpaper & painting, foundation/sidewalk,
  • Experienced in the use of basic cleaning supplies and equipment
  • Able to work independently and will take ownership of responsibilities.
  • Must be personable with exceptional communication skills, possess a positive attitude, demonstrate attention to detail and be capable of representing Bridge.
  • Valid Massachusetts driver's license.
  • Must be able to successfully pass a CORI, reference and multi-state background check

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Work is performed while standing, sitting and/or walking.
  • Requires the ability to communicate effectively using speech, vision and hearing.
  • Requires the use of hands for simple grasping and fine manipulations.
  • Requires bending, squatting, crawling, climbing, reaching.
  • Requires the ability to lift, carry, push or pull medium weights, up to 50 pounds.
  • Requires activities involving being around moving machinery, exposure to marked changes in temperature and humidity, and exposure to dust, fumes and gases.
