Program Manager


The Social Innovation Forum (SIF) is a Boston-based connector and catalyst committed to building lasting social change. An independent nonprofit organization since 2015, SIF provides training and networks to social good organizations, funders, and skilled volunteers – aligning the strengths and passions of investors and social impact organizations to more effectively address complex social problems. SIF’s work is based on what we’ve come to call “a marketplace approach” to social change – one which engages a diverse array of stakeholders in collaborating to accelerate positive social change locally. Our work is grounded in a series of core beliefs about the systems of inequity at the root of many social issues and the need for all of us to seek out continuous learning about diversity, equity, and inclusion, including our own role in these systems.

As our Program Manager, you’ll be an important member of SIF’s program team, working on a broad set of activities to support SIF’s flagship “Social Innovator Accelerator” program, which helps high performing nonprofits build capacity, gain visibility, expand their networks, and connect with philanthropic and in-kind resources. Additionally, you will lead, with support from the Director of Programs, the development and launch of a new Alumni Program to provide additional support to SIF’s growing portfolio of alumni organizations as they continue to strengthen their work and accelerate their impact, driving real social change in greater Boston.

The Program Manager will report to the Director of Programs. You are an ideal candidate if you are comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, building and strengthening authentic relationships with various stakeholders, facilitating meetings, planning and leading workshops, and proactively addressing issues and challenges. Social Innovator Accelerator (45%)

Program Management, Delivery, and Evaluation

  • Working closely with the Director of Programs and the Development team, engage SIF funding partners in identifying six to eight social issue areas of focus for each annual Accelerator program cycle.
  • Research and summarize social issue areas of focus to scope the “Social Issue Tracks” in preparation for launching the application process each year.
  • Co-manage the six-month nomination, application, and evaluation process for the Accelerator, including facilitation of evaluation sessions comprised of volunteers, social issue experts, and funding partners.
  • Partner with the Director of Programs and Senior Program Coordinator to design and lead monthly meetings for the current cohort of Social Innovators and to support them in preparing their pitches for the May Social Innovator Showcase.
  • Assist with managing the design, content creation, and review of SIF’s publications, including the annual Social Impact Investment Guide, Social Innovators Progress Reports, and other program deliverables. 
  • With support from the Program team, manage internal program evaluation and data tracking systems to support the organization’s learning and ongoing program improvement. 

Social Innovator Alumni Program (40%)

Program Design, Delivery, and Evaluation

  • With support from the Director of Programs, assess the needs of past Social Innovator organizations, including review of existing survey data and the collection of additional input through outreach and interviews.
  • In partnership with the Program team, assemble and manage an Alumni Council, including facilitation of regular meetings, to gather input and ongoing feedback into program design.  
  • Partner with the Director of Programs and Senior Program Coordinator to design, pilot, and scale up a formal Alumni Program for Social Innovator organizations: 
  • Lead the internalAlumni program evaluation and data tracking process to support the organization’s learning and ongoing program improvement.
    • Organize, lead, and facilitate workshops and trainings open to larger groups of the alumni network;
    • Plan and execute multi-part trainings focused on specific topics, such as board development, fundraising, story-telling, etc. for smaller cohorts of alumni organizations;
    • Partner with the program team and the Alumni Council on developing an “Accelerator 2.0” for the deep and targeted support of the past Innovators

Additional Responsibilities (15%)

  • Support the ongoing development and testing of a range of educational and network-building programming for nonprofit organizations and the funder and philanthropic communities.
  • Maintain relationships with current SIF in-kind partners and volunteers and build relationships with new partners to support SIF’s programs.


There are innumerable ways to learn, grow and excel professionally. We respect this when we review applications and take a broad look at the experience of each applicant. This said, we are most likely to be interested in your candidacy if you can demonstrate the majority of the qualifications and experiences listed below: 

  • 4+ years of program management experience, preferably in the nonprofit sector; 
  • Prior experience successfully working, engaging or volunteering with underresourced populations, diverse communities and individuals who speak languages other than English 
  • Experience in public speaking, leading and facilitating workshops and trainings; 
  • Exceptional organizational skills, detail orientation, and ability to prioritze;
  • Ability to see projects through from beginning to end and experience in efficiently and effectively managing multiple projects and deadlines; 
  • Strong written and oral communications skills;
  • Ability to develop authentic connections and relationships across a variety of constituents and community members, demonstrating cultural awareness and humility with consistency and ease
  • Commitment to SIF’s mission and to capacity building as an approach to strengthening the nonprofit sector;
  • A demonstrated personal commitment progressing social justice and equity efforts within the range of social issues our Innovators are working to address (familiarity with the greater Boston community highly desired);
  • Comfort leveraging technology including experience with CRM databases (experience using Salesforce for Nonprofits is a plus), Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and online application/evaluation tools; 
  • Due to SIF’s event schedule, willingness to work some early mornings and evenings;
  • Flexibility and an ability to thrive and learn in our fast-paced environment while bringing an enthusiastic, collaborative approach to your work.
