Consultant

THE POSITION

We seek a Boston-based, emerging Operations or Human Resources professional to work in partnership with our nonprofit and social impact clients. Qualified applicants will possess an entrepreneurial spirit with a genuine desire to grow, develop skills and proactively and consistently deliver results.

Your 2+ years working in HR/Talent, Business or Operations, ideally inclusive of core functions like benefits administration, payroll support, policies/compliance development or hiring will prepare you for this role as a hands-on executor, partner in learning and supporter to achieving high-quality client goals.  It is your creativity, ability to build high-quality relationships, mission-fit, and commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion that will differentiate you as a key asset to our organization and the clients we serve. 

Consultants will work directly with our clients in developing and executing customized HR services. As a Consultant, you will work in close partnership with our leadership team, specifically a Senior Consultant who will lead the relationship directly with the client, to execute on client-facing work. This is an opportunity to be part of an experienced team while also having the opportunity to learn and lead over time with our clients.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Client Services:  Work onsite, together with guidance from the Senior Consultant, to deliver a collection of the following services to our clients. Please note that the exact nature of the services changes based on the specific needs of each client. 
    • Serve as a point of contact for the client with their HRIS vendor to support day-to-day system administration, help desk requests and the rollout of upgrades implemented by Positively Partners’ Chief Information Officer.
    • Develop, revise, and implement HR policies and procedures to ensure that they are compliant with the law and best reflect the needs of the organization. 
    • Conduct audits of HR activities to ensure compliance, prepare and maintain documentation and reports for client education and compliance.
    • Serve as an on-site project manager, under the direction of the Senior Consultant, to ensure that key milestones are achieved and that documentation of new workflows are complemented and shared with stakeholders.
    • Facilitate internal communications including announcements of new hires, updates on process change, support for open enrollment and other messaging key to the success of our service offerings.
    • Coordinate with onsite staff to ensure the accuracy of payroll and associated documentation and participate in communication with brokers about changes to employee benefit offerings.
  • Advance Project-based Work Assigned by Positively Partners: Work with other Positively Partners consultants and team members to advance ad hoc projects or services that the firm is contracted to provide to clients; including:
    • Recruitment/Talent Acquisition: Support candidate attraction, selection and onboarding activities for searches, including the creation of job descriptions, outreach to prospective candidates, interviewing, and reference checks.
    • Performance Management: Support the roll-out and adoption of Positively Partners’ approach to performance management. This includes helping with change management, communication, and training on the practice, approach, and use of custom technology developed by our team. 
    • Training & Leadership Development: Support the design and facilitation of Positively Partners’ courses for clients including helping to tailor specific courses based on client needs. Based on your skills and interest there may be opportunities to deliver training in the future. 

QUALIFICATIONS & MINDSET

  • 2+ years of experience in the HR, Operations, Business or Talent field.
  • A successful track record in setting priorities, managing relationships and ability to prioritize, negotiate and work with a variety of internal and external stakeholders/partners. 
  • Technology savvy with experience overseeing software administration and managing relationships with software vendors: knowledge of HRIS and reporting software a plus.
  • Experience managing human resources and general operations administrative functions.
  • Excellent organizational and data entry skills, attention to detail, and commitment to thoroughness.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop high-quality relationships, understand the needs of managers and identify the effective solutions.
  • Impeccable ethics and judgment in maintaining highly sensitive and confidential information.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills/ emotional intelligence, with the ability to manage relationships with a diverse set of colleagues.
  • Proficiency using systems, tools, and processes including comfort with Microsoft Office, Google Apps, and HRIS systems.
  • Proactive and solutions-oriented with experience working in ambiguity.
