College Bound Dorchester is looking for highly motivated, resourceful and talented individuals to join our growing team. College Bound Dorchester is a Boston-based nonprofit leader in serving gang-involved young people (Core Influencers) with the attitude, skills and experience to graduate from college and become positive leaders in their community. College Bound is a $3.5M organization poised to be a national model to use education to redirect the entrepreneurial, networking and leadership skills of gang-members from violence to drive positive change that shifts social norms in our neighborhoods – empowering Core Influencers as the solution to cycles of violence and poverty in our communities.

THE OPPORTUNITY

College Bound seeks a mission-driven  Director of Finance (DoF) who works closely with the Executive Director to set financial plans and systems aligned with the organization’s mission and strategic  plan. The DoF oversees all aspects of accounting and finance functions; manages finance staff; ensures organizational compliance with contracts, grants and administrative practices; manages external  business relationships; and oversees all infrastructure operations. The DoF will ensure that the  organization has effective best practices and resource alignment to provide exceptional services. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 

Accounting and Financial Operations 

  • Administer all accounting and financial management/forecasting operations including cash flow 
  • Maintain and update internal control protocols;
  • Manage all grant contract compliance under OMB A-122, local regulations/statutes, and grant specific terms;
  • Lead a multi-faceted annual financial planning including operations, capital and cash with organizational and program leaders;
  • Manage the processes and the completion of the annual audit, UFR, Rate Setting Report, and all government and tax filings 
  • Prepare accurate and timely financial reports and financial analysis/forecast to the Leadership Team, investors, Board of Directors;
  • Perform financial analysis of financial statements, key financial performance indicators and trends, and financial benchmarks of outstanding performance; 
  • Represent the company to financial partners, including financial institutions, investors, foundation executives, auditors, and public officials; 
  • Remain up to date on nonprofit audit best practices and state and federal law regarding nonprofit operations. 

Operations and Administrative Support 

  • Drive the creation and execution of plans that project infrastructure and administrative needs for the program and the organization based on the growth plan and progress; 
  • Negotiate new and manage existing external vendor/contractor relations;
  • Oversee facility plans and manage the Facility and Property maintenance consultant for all College Bound facilities; 
  • Oversee the IT plans and IT consultant to maintain and upkeep CBD technology and communication systems;
  • Oversee Human Resource compliance and benefit administration;
  • Manage the company’s insurance policies and programs;
  • Lead the finance team.  
  • Serve as the strategic advisor, functional expert and thought partner to the CEO, Board of Directors and Leadership Team regarding area of expertise.

Ambassadorship

  • Serve as a College Bound ambassador, representing the organization and movement at various community events, trainings and meetings;
  • Participate in site visits, on and off site, to educate stakeholders (funders, elected officials, community partners etc) on the Uncornered movement as needed;

Professionalism and Ongoing Learning 

  • Participate in staff meetings and other required program/organization meetings/events;
  • Participate in relevant required trainings and seek out training opportunities that support professional development outlined in the Individualized Professional Development Plan;
  • Adhere to all protocols and norms for communication and professional conduct, e.g. Email and Phone Communication Protocol, Communication Norms;
  • Fulfill all outlined and related functions in a professional, timely, and thorough manner;
  • Complete other duties related to this position as assigned by your direct supervisor.

KEY QUALIFICATIONS  

The ideal candidate will possess the qualifications listed below. The qualifications listed are considered minimum qualifications, unless noted otherwise. 

Education 

  •  Bachelor degree in finance or related field required; MBA preferred

Experience, Knowledge, Skills

  • Proficient knowledge in full accounting operations including external audit(s), grant management and reporting, and financial analysis experience required, prior experience in a growing non-profit preferred;
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office suite: Word, Excel, Powerpoint, G-Suite required;
  • Prior experience with Blackbaud and ADP a plus;
  • Demonstrated leadership ability, team management, and interpersonal skills;

EVALUATION

Formal evaluation once per year by supervisor against standards outlined in evaluation protocol, ongoing informal evaluations, progress toward goals outlined in Individualized Professional Development Plan.

CLASSIFICATION

Full-Time, Full Calendar Year and Exempt.
