Bilingual Stabilization Worker

We’re seeking a mission-focused and compassionate self-starter for the Bilingual Stabilization Worker position at Rosie’s Place to provide in-home support and assistance to Rosie’s Place guests who are at risk of losing their housing. 

Rosie's Place was founded in 1974 as the first women’s shelter in the United States. Our mission is to provide a safe and nurturing environment that helps poor and homeless women maintain their dignity, seek opportunity, and find security in their lives. 

Today, Rosie’s Place not only provides meals and shelter but also creates answers for 12,000 women a year through wide-ranging support, housing, and education services. Rosie’s Place relies solely on the generous support of individuals, foundations and corporations and does not accept any city, state or federal funding. Thanks to these donations, 87 cents of every dollar raised go directly to services for poor and homeless women.

THE OPPORTUNITY

As the Bilingual Stabilization Worker, you will provide in-home support and problem-solving to Rosie’s Place guests, with the ultimate goal of helping them keep their housing. Some of our guests in the program have chronic mental illnesses, physical disabilities, education delays, or limited English Proficiency. With a caseload of fifty people, including 3-5 home visits per day, you must balance compassion and efficiency, striving for a wide-reaching impact.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

As the Bilingual Stabilization Worker, you will be responsible for the following threads of work:

Individual Supportive Service

  • Provide approximately 50 guests with individualized supportive service to sustain their housing
  • Assess housing barriers to determine housing and service needs for each guest who is referred to the program
  • Develop individualized service plans based on the needs assessment to guide each guest towards long-term housing
  • Conduct monthly home visits with guests

Guest Advocacy

  • Accompany guests to court, medical, and housing appointments, either by driving or taking the MBTA
  • Conduct monthly calls, e-mails or visits to guests’ landlords and management offices
  • Provide assistance with accessing services, resources and referrals for needs such as:  transportation, emergency clothes, food pantries, Department of Transitional Assistance (DTA) and other governmental offices, housing and other community resources

Community/Team Networking

  • Provide information and referrals to services offered on-site, by Rosie’s Place programs and other allied partners
  • Recognize when problems require support from additional resources and communicate with program manager in a timely manner and coordinate additional supports as needed

Administration

  • Maintain accurate and current records in both paper files and electronic database
  • Track and update all information in the database within 48-hours of providing service to a guest
  • Attend weekly supervision, monthly direct service, team, and staff meetings 
  • Attend occasional outside meetings or trainings pertaining to the job
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge and understanding of various community resources as well as current regulations and requirements for obtaining public benefits, housing, and other services
  • Ensure confidentiality when handling all aspects of guests’ information
  • Report directly to the Program Manager and perform any additional duties as assigned by the manager

Hours

  • Full-time schedule 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday through Friday

Salary Range

  • $42,000 - $50,000

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

This said, we are most likely to be interested in your candidacy if you can demonstrate the majority of the qualifications and experiences listed below:

  • Minimum of two years of experience in case management, home visits, or within the human services field
  • Fluency in both English and Spanish
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • Experience working in urban communities or public housing developments
  • Experience working with people who have a history of trauma, homelessness, mental health issues, substance abuse, and domestic abuse
  • Knowledge of community resources in and around Boston in housing support and basic benefit systems
  • Understanding of and commitment to addressing issues affecting low-income guests
  • A proven record of problem-solving, with the ability to work independently and creatively.
  • Ability to prioritize within a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication, listening, and organizational skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to lift at least 10-20 pounds
